The Reference powered speakers include a sub-out line that allow you to seamlessly add a subwoofer to your stereo system to enhance low frequencies even further.I can't seem to find any difference between these models besides price.

The Rpm has smaller drivers than the Rpm. The Rpm is the newer version of the Rpm. The new models have more powerful amps and a dynamic bass EQ feature that is supposed to scale the low frequencies with the volume to improve love volume listening.

Not exactly sure how well the latter feature works and if it's worth the extra money over the older models. Personally, aside from amplifier power, I check frequency range and how louder sensitivity or spl in Db can be. A more louder-capable speaker sensitivity can be handled by less powerful amplifier, so the speaker reaches high volume levels. For example, the older Rpm according to the specs sheet could reach more high frecuencies than others, so you could experience more crisp and clear highs, but less lower frecuencies than others.

I think the Rpm must be paired with a subwoofer in order to compensate lower frecuencies, and then you can acomplish a wider frecuencies ranges when paired. More power does not exactly means better or louder speakers.

Review the specs. Each one has a specific purpose and not necessarily a newer will be better, just a different approach.

Depends on your listening requirements. Also you could consider sizing, when the 14s could be smaller and matches well for small rooms when you do not need louder speakers. But with a louder generally more louder speakers you will have more volume levels headroom, that could means less posibilities of distortion at high volume levels. Also, wider the frecuency response, better the sounding experience.By jswilliamsJanuary 25, in 2-Channel Home Audio. Im trying to get a descent setup for a home stereo. I haven't upgraded my stereo in quite a while but am considering getting away from the component receiver that i currently have Yamaha RX-V and the two tower speakers setup.

The receiver has been great to me and has great output however if i would like the clean look of not having one. When considering the Sixes i have some concern from what i have read here that i may still need a better preamp. Is this the case with the RPM as well? Would i be better off using my current receiver and getting a passive speaker? I would love some advice on what other have found works well.

Looking for great sound as i dont want to have to upgrade again however the RF-7's are not in the budget. Thanks Joker.

I was hoping to hear some feedback or reccomendations. Which sub did you pair with it? I wish the 12 was wireless and would be an easier decision.

Not sure if the 10 is enough or i want to deal with some wires. Have you connected a TT to them at all to see how the built in preamp works? You can post now and register later. RPM vs. The Sixes Vs.The now legacy RM is, as of the time of this writing, still one of our favorite budget bookshelf speaker for the sheer power and volume it brings for such a modest price, and unsurprisingly we like its powered version quite a lot as well.

So how does this new version improve upon it? Well, the most obvious change is the aesthetic design upgrade. The tweeter and woofer are now separately loaded into the baffle, when before they were kind of housed in the same plastic piece.

Klipsch uses its same proprietary horn loaded tweeter that they love to put in their speakers, though now it looks a little bigger and with more dispersion. The tweeter itself is a one inch aluminum dome. The LED power light on the parent speaker has also been moved to the top right. So lets talk about specs now.

Klipsch now actually specifies the continuous and peak power handling of these speakers, which you almost never see with powered speakers. They also quote a max volume of around and dB respectively, presumably at 1 meter or so. Though this is going to always be a limitation of smaller 2-way bookshelf speakers. The port on the back will need room to breath, but beyond that these will be relatively easy to place as opposed to something like the behemoth JBL 3-Series.

Klipsch R-51PM Powered Speakers review

The newest reference powered speakers are a bit expensive, but are still a good value. That said, the now legacy version of each reviewed herewhich are still not that old are significantly cheaper and basically as good, albeit a little more dated looking. Brand new speakers are rarely the best deal, whereas recently replaced speakers often become significantly discounted. The older version will probably eventually become no longer available, so now might actually be a good time to get a pair.

Usually located at the top of the speaker, tweeters come in different shapes detailed below and sizes. Generally speaking, the size of the tweeter is not as important as the shape.

But, for some guidance, consider that a larger tweeter measured by diameter in inches or millimeters will likely be louder and able to disperse sound over a larger area. Speakers with midrange drivers i. More specific and focused drivers means more accurate, robust sound. The human voice and most instruments fall into this range.

For more sophisticated listeners, or for those who truly want the best sound reproduction, a midrange driver is crucial.

The woofer is the driver that is responsible for low frequency sounds and bass - crucial for well-rounded, booming sound. It is the biggest driver in size, and is usually shaped like a cone. This measurement refers to the diameter of the woofer. A general rule of thumb is a bigger woofer means louder, more powerful bass.
